Making Contact in the Snatch & Clean

There is a lot of debate on-the-line and between coaches about when and how you make contact with the barbell in the snatch and clean. Not many however debate that making contact in the Olympic lifts is important. Whether a brush or a bang the bar should contact as close to the hips as possible, with variances person to person due to an athletes anthropometrics, and certain specific strengths & weaknesses.

The trick is to contact the bar as close to the hips as possible, with allowances for and individuals limb and torso lengths.
